Verena Seibel is an Assistant Professor at the European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations (ERCOMER), Utrecht University. She is the PI of several research projects examining migrants’ perceptions and knowledge of the welfare state and their social rights and how this links to migrants’ economic vulnerability and social embeddedness in social support networks. In her ERC-funded project SHADOW, Verena dives deeper into the negative sides of migrants’ social networks and how they can contribute to migrants’ economic inequality within given institutional welfare structures.
Her work was published in Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, The British Journal of Sociology, Social Policy & Administration, and The Gerontologist, among others.
