“Borders of Exclusion and Deservingness: Perceptions of Cross-Border Markets and Associated Inequalities, 2019-2021”

Tim Bartley is an organizational, political, and economic sociologist with particular interests in globalization, labor, and the environment. Much of his work examines the prospects for corporate accountability, decent work, sustainability, and environmental justice in global production networks.

Prior to coming to Stockholm University, he has been on the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis, Ohio State University, and Indiana University. He received his PhD at the University of Arizona and later spent time as a visiting scholar at Princeton University, MIT, Sun Yat-sen University, University of Konstanz, University of St. Gallen, Université Paris-Dauphine, and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies. He previously served as co-editor of the journal Regulation & Governance, and was recently elected chair of the American Sociological Association’s section on Organizations, Occupations, and Work (OOW).
