Susanne Garritzmann is a political scientist, working as postdoctoral researcher in the DFG-funded Research Group “Reconfiguration and Internalization of Social Structure” (RISS) at the Institute for Empirical Analytical Research, Goethe University. Her work lies at the intersection of political behavior and comparative politics, focusing in particular on the role of education and education systems for political socialization, attitudes, and behavior. Susanne has been collecting data among adolescents in two large projects – the RISS Youth to Adulthood Panel at Goethe University and the project Students Perceptions of Inequality and Fairness, funded by the Cluster of Excellence The Politics of Inequality, University of Konstanz. With these and other data sources, Susanne studies how perceptions of inequality among adolescents relate to political inequality, how peers shape adolescents’ political attitudes, how political efficacy influences patterns of participation, and how policies and teaching practices relate to adolescents’ views of democracy.
