Robin Weisser is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Basel and a researcher in the SNSF project “Class Identity Politics: The (New) Political Role of Social Class in Western Europe,” supervised by Prof. Denise Traber. His research focuses on how class identities—shaped by structural change on the demand side and elite strategies on the supply side—link inequality to political participation, vote choice, and processes of class-based de- and realignment among the working class in Western Europe. He studies how social identities influence political behavior and how political elites shape these identities through rhetorical, descriptive, and substantive representation. Methodologically, his work integrates observational cross-sectional and panel data with survey experiments, using multilevel and causal inference approaches to study mechanisms of working-class political alienation and behavior.
