Moamen Gouda is Professor of Economics at the Graduate School of International and Area Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in Seoul, South Korea. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany, with a specialization in institutional economics. His research focuses on the institutional economics of religion, Islamic constitutionalism, inequality, and the economics of crime and terrorism. His work has appeared in leading international journals, including Political Research Quarterly, Terrorism & Political Violence, Social Science Quarterly, Public Choice, Economic Systems, and Studies in Conflict & Terrorism. He has served as an elected board member of the Middle East Economic Association for three consecutive terms since 2019. He is a research fellow with CESifo (Munich), MACIE (Marburg), the Economic Research Forum (Cairo), and the Institute of Law and Economics at the University of Hamburg. He regularly advises governments and contributes to international media on Middle East economic affairs.
