Lena Maria Schaffer

Lena Maria Schaffer is Professor of Political Science at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. She studied Public Policy and Management at the Universities of Konstanz, Warwick, and Bologna, and earned her PhD at ETH Zurich in the field of international climate policy. Her research focuses on international and comparative climate and energy policy, political economy, and globalization. A key strand of her cross-national work examines the politicization of climate change and polarization driven by climate policy, both theoretically and empirically. She has also been an Associated Researcher at the Cluster since 2024.
