Juan-Carlos Castillo is associate professor at the Department of Sociology, Universidad de Chile. Currently, he is principal researcher at the Center for the Study of Conflict and Social Cohesion (COES) and at the Millennium Nucleus on Digital Inequalities and Opportunities (NUDOS). Since 2023 he is the president of the Research Committee 42 (Social Psychology) of the International Sociological Association (ISA). He obtained his PhD in Sociology from the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, studying the legitimacy of socioeconomic inequality through the analysis of comparative survey data. His research deals with distributive justice, citizen education, social cohesion, and open science.
