Jan Vogler is an associate professor of political science at Aarhus University. He previously held positions at the University of Konstanz and the University of Virginia; prior to that, he received a Ph.D. from Duke University. His research covers a wide range of topics, including the organization of public bureaucracies, various forms of political and economic competition, historical legacies, structures and perceptions of the EU, and the determinants of democracy and authoritarianism. In the fall of 2026, he will begin work on a five-year research project titled “EQUILIBRIUM — Changing for the Better: Escaping Negative Equilibria in State-Citizen Relations” that is made possible by a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant.
