Halvard Buhaug

Halvard Buhaug is Research Professor at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and Professor of political science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His research focuses on how climate change affects peace and security as well as how inequality, discriminatory political institutions, and the breakdown of peace amplify climate change impacts. He served as a Senior Fellow at the Cluster in 2025 and currently leads an ERC project with the University of Konstanz as a collaborating partner.
