Frederic Gerdon is a postdoctoral researcher at GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Cologne. He conducts conceptual and quantitative research on the societal impacts of digital technologies and on the responsible use of individual data. The paper presented at the In_equality Conference arose from the interdisciplinary project “Consequences of Artificial Intelligence for Urban Societies (CAIUS)”. At GESIS, he is currently involved in the ASSURED project in which he develops, improves, and evaluates online trainings that help researchers to access and use sensitive data securely and responsibly.

He received his doctoral degree (Dr. rer. soc.) from the University of Mannheim’s School of Social Sciences in 2024. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in sociology (minor in political science) from the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and a Master’s degree in sociology from the University of Mannheim.
