“Economic transformations, technological change and the gendered geography of social mobility in France”
Cyril Jayet is Associate Professor of Sociology at Sorbonne University. He initially focussed on European studies, nationalism, and political attitudes. Transitioning to social stratification and mobility, he conducted France’s first study on social mobility at the microclass level (2021). His work extends to exploring the significance of the mother’s social class in mobility research, comparing parental influences and examining families where mothers surpass fathers in social position (2023). Currently, Jayet delves into spatial inequalities and social mobility, investigating the impact of technological change and globalization on the french geography of social mobility.
