Cyril Jayet
“Economic transformations, technological change and the gendered geography of social mobility in France”
Cyril Jayet is Associate Professor of Sociology at Sorbonne University. He initially worked on European studies, nationalism, and political attitudes. In recent years, he has changed his research field to focus on social stratification and mobility. He conducted the first study on social mobility in France at the microclass level (Jayet, 2021). More recently, he has compared in France the father’s and mother’s influence on an individual’s social destiny. He examined more particularly families in which the mother has a higher position than the father (Jayet, 2023). Currently, he works on the relations between spatial inequalities, spatial mobility, and social mobility.
