Cristóbal Moya’s research investigates how people understand and respond to social and economic inequalities. Current projects focus on status disadvantages and fairness preferences, beliefs about gender inequality in labor markets, and the social legitimacy of redistribution. He uses a variety of methods, including survey experiments, computational text analysis, and panel data methods, to understand political-economic attitudes and collective action. He also contributes to expanding applied social science training with large-scale panel survey data, such as the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), within an open and reproducible science framework. He works as a research associate at DIW Berlin and is affiliated with the Centro de Investigación en Economía y Sociedad (ESOC) and Observatorio de Violencia y Legitimidad Social (OLES) in Chile.
