Thomas Piketty is director of studies at the EHESS (School for Advanced Studies in
the Social Sciences) and professor at the Paris School of Economics. He has
published numerous research articles in international journals such as the
Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Political Economy, American Economic
Review, and Review of Economic Studies, among others.
Additionally, he has authored around ten books. Piketty’s work encompasses both
historical and theoretical studies examining the relationship between economic
development, political conflict, as well as wealth and income distribution. He is
widely recognized as the pioneer of recent literature on the long-term evolution of
the share of top incomes in national income, which is now accessible through the
World Inequality Database. Piketty’s research highlights the significant role played
by political, social, and fiscal institutions in shaping the historical dynamics of
wealth distribution.
Furthermore, Piketty is the author of the international best-selling book, “Capital
in the Twenty-First Century.” His ground-breaking findings and analysis have
sparked important debates and discussions on income and wealth inequality
worldwide
