Speaker

Assessing causes, dynamics, and consequences of inequality in the domain of science requires large-scale and in-depth analyses of scholars, ideas, institutions, funding, and research projects and outcomes. I discuss methodological challenges and current needs as well as empirical findings on inequality and possible interventions from the field of science of science. As part of that, I address how computational solutions from natural language processing, bibliometric, and scientometrics can be brought together with qualitative work and domain expertise to advance knowledge and discovery in this field.
