Research Highlights of the Cluster of Excellence „The Politics of In_equality”

In this special live episode of the cluster’s In_equality podcast, Marius R. Busemeyer and Gabriele Spilker will showcase selected findings from cluster projects from the first funding period (2019–2025). For example, the Inequality Barometer project provides survey data on public perceptions of inequality and related attitudes. The Political Elites project complements this perspective by showing how political elites and decision-makers perceive inequality. The episode will also address research on the political consequences of climate-related inequalities, in particular whether and under what conditions such inequalities lead to protest and mobilization. Further contributions focus on the integration of young migrants into the German vocational training system, the persistence of gender gaps in the labor market, and the effects of technological change on employment. Together, these projects offer an overview of the Cluster’s main research highlights from its first funding period on the causes, perceptions, and consequences of inequality.
